Prince Harry will be ‘so lonely’ without Meghan Markle on ‘sombre’ UK visit
Prince Harry will be without his wife and children Archie and Lilibet as he makes his return to the UK for the first time since his whistle-stop journey to visit his dad, King Charles, after his cancer diagnosis
Prince Harry is set to travel to the UK alone once again as he prepares for his latest Invictus Games event on May 8.
The Duke of Sussex will be on hand to celebrate 10 years of the Games he set up, but his wife Meghan Markle won’t be by his side. The former Suits star’s appearance at the event had long been speculated before it was announced last week she would be staying stateside.
Her no-show is said to be likely to leave Harry feeling “so lonely” as he continues to also deal with his fractured relationship with the Royal Family, a royal expert claims.
Speaking to GB News, Mail on Sunday’s Royal Editor, Charlotte Griffiths, explained how Harry would have “loved” to have had his immediate family by his side, especially with the event being at St Paul’s Cathedral, where his mum and dad were married.
Griffiths said the occasion would be “very sombre” and claimed: “It’s a really important part of Harry’s soul, and the kind of thing he’d want his wife, maybe even his kids by his side for.”
She continued: “Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he’s going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well.”
Griffiths claimed Harry will be staying in a hotel for the occasion rather than any royal residency and said it’s more likely he’ll be there a matter of days, rather than a week.
Harry’s trip will be followed by a visit to Nigeria, with Meghan set to be by her husband’s side for that occasion. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in the country for talks on the Invictus Games. During their stay, Harry and Meghan are expected to take part in cultural activities and meet with service members and their families.
It’ll be the couple’s first trip to the African country that holds a special place on the former actress’ heart. She previously revealed her Nigerian ancestry during an episode of her axed podcast Archetypes.
