Taylor Swift fans have gone into excitement overdrive after a mysterious private jet landed at Edinburgh airport today.

The jet has caused fans to speculate that the superstar has arrived a day early for the UK leg of her sell-out Eras tour, with her first performance in the Scottish capital due on Friday evening.

It was snapped landing as 220,000 Swifties prepare to descend on the city’s Murrayfield Stadium for the megastar’s three performances this weekend.

The rumours have been fuelled after BMW X5 security cars with bulletproof glass were spotted near the jet – a car that the superstar has used to get around in before.

But there has been no sighting of Swift so far, and no confirmation if she was on the plane.

However several other theories have also been swirling around the internet with some fans believing she has arrived in Inverness on Wednesday, while others say she has arrived in Glasgow today.

But the theory most popular is that she was on the plane that arrived in Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.

Her last gig was in Lyon, France, on Monday, with fans believing she could have journeyed home for a few days of respite before starting her gruelling UK leg of her tour.

She will be doing 10 dates in the UK, then three in Dublin, over the course of 23 days.

But rival theories believe the Love Story singer has already arrived in Scotland after a luxury private jet of the same brand as hers arrived in Inverness in the Highlands on Wednesday.

Speculation has mounted after an anonymous person from the Highlands spotted a plane in the night sky and decided to check the popular app Flight Radar to see where it originated and found it was a Dassault Falcon FA7X.

That plane had travelled from Philadelphia, where the star was born and raised.

While other internet sleuths believe the fan may have arrived in Glasgow after another luxury private jet was seen landing in Glasgow this afternoon.

Entire fan accounts which are solely focused on tracking the star’s movements have been trying to keep track of her arrival in Scotland.

The private jet lineup for the star changed in February after the 14-time Grammy winner sold her $40 million Dassault Falcon 900LX on January 30 to car insurance company Car Shield based in Missouri, estimated to be worth around $7million second-hand.

Swift, 34, has been under pressure to cut down on her carbon emissions after jet-setting across the world to spend time with Kansas Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce.

While many have called on the star to reduce her travel, it is unlikely that the globetrotting superstar will switch to commercial flights due to security fears.

Swift still owns her Dassault Falcon 7X which if bought new costs $54million. She has been using the jet as her main mode of transport for the Eras Tour.

She previously sold a smaller Dassault Falcon 50 jet in 2020, after she purchased it in 2012 for $4million. Swift donated the proceeds to charity.

The excitement over Swift’s arrival in Scotland comes as fans have been sharing their anticipation for the big event online.

Ellie Poulter, 19, is among the 220,000 fans excitedly awaiting the megastar’s sold-out performance to play at Murrayfield Stadium this weekend.

Tickets are still available on resale websites, but they have been spotted going for the eye-watering sum of nearly £5,000 as fans desperately try to go last minute.

Drone photos taken on Thursday showed workers setting up for the three-hour concert – where the American superstar, 34, will perform over 40 songs.

To make sure she gets the best spot for the concert, Ms Poulter was the first person to start queuing for the gig.

‘So I thought I was going to be camping for like a week before, but nobody else has ended up doing that so I thought two days would be fine to camp for that long.

‘I’ve got a tent and I’ve took a duvet and that’s it apart from my clothes – I have nothing and I didn’t come prepared at all.

‘I’ve got a hotel for the night of the show, so I’ll basically chuck everything in there and get ready, so I’ve got nothing on me.’

Ms Poulter is one of almost 73,000 fans who will fill the Scottish Rugby home ground each night.

She has only ever seen Taylor perform when she came out as a special guest at The 1975’s gig last year.

She says she thinks she will be ‘a mess’ when the singer starts performing on stage on Saturday and that she can’t wait to hear the singer’s 2017 Reputation album live.
