Prince William Wedding Cheers Go Viral
Prince William’s fan reaction as he arrived for a friend’s wedding has gone viral in a video on TikTok.
The Prince of Wales was the most high profile guest at the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, and Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral on June 7, 2024.
And so it was perhaps no surprise that a cheer went up when William was spotted by fans gathered outside.
The next in line to the throne was seen climbing into a minibus alongside other guests before heading to the couple’s reception.
A clip of the moment went viral on TikTok, where it was liked 89,000 times and viewed 3.5 million times, having been posted with the message: “Prince William at the wedding of the Duke of Westminster.”
William went alone, though his cousin Princess Eugenie was also there, and Prince George did not attend, contrary to stories in the press beforehand.
Grosvenor is close to William and Prince Harry, but the Duke of Sussex stepped aside to prevent his rift with his older brother from overshadowing the happy occasion.
One reply to the video read: “Seeing the royals get on a minibus is wild to me hahahah idk why,” while another read: “William… your Mother would be so proud of the man you have become.”
Princess Eugenie also caused a stir on TikTok after a separate clip of her passing through a floral arch was liked 26,300 times and viewed 1,400 times.
One reply read: “Princess Eugenie looks fabulous,” while another said: “She looks so beautiful, I love the dress. it is amazing they are able to walk on cobblestones in heels so gracefully.”
The wedding was a joyous moment after an extremely difficult start to the year for Prince William and his family.
Princess Kate had abdominal surgery in January, before being diagnosed with cancer after follow-up tests.
The couple kept the news secret initially, even from their children, but reassured Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis she was going to be okay shortly before telling the public in a dramatic video message on March 22.
Kate is yet to return to public life, but recently said in a letter to the Irish Guards that she hoped to be representing them again “very soon.”
