PLEASURE BEFORE BUSINESS? Travis Kelce was in the crowd as Taylor Swift performed in Germany while the Kansas City Chiefs began training camp without their star tight end on Saturday. Do you think he is doing the right thing?
Travis Kelce was in the crowd as Taylor Swift performed in Germany while the Kansas City Chiefs began training camp without their star tight end on Saturday.
Taylor Swift serenaded the crowd with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, cheering her on as her “Eras Tour” hit Germany, just as his Kansas City Chiefs teammates kicked off their NFL training camp without him.
The Chiefs’ star tight end was spotted at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Wednesday, sporting a Nike green shirt and cap, supporting his girlfriend. After celebrating Super Bowl LVIII victory with the Chiefs in Las Vegas, Kelce has been globe-trotting to catch Swift’s performances, racking up 13 shows to date.
Swift had previously jetted from Tokyo to witness Kelce’s triumph over the San Francisco 49ers in a thrilling overtime win in Las Vegas, and now Kelce is reciprocating the support. Meanwhile, back at the Chiefs’ camp, all rookies were called in on July 16, with quarterbacks also required to report.
Mahomes was captured tossing the ball to promising newcomer Louis Rees-Zammit, a former professional rugby player who joined the Chiefs through the International Player Pathway program. As Kelce prepares to rejoin his team for daily routines, head coach Andy Reid has already laid down expectations for the tight end in anticipation of the 2024 NFL season.
It’s been nearly a year since Swift was first seen at a Chiefs game, though she later revealed they’d been an item for several months prior to going public with their romance. Since that Week 3 clash with the Chicago Bears, Kelce’s profile has soared, marking this offseason as his first in the limelight while openly dating Swift.
Reid has been a pillar of support for Kelce’s blossoming romance with Swift, but he reminded the tight end that his primary role is as a football player and he needs to be prepared when duty calls.
“Training camp is kind of that proving ground. If you’re not ready to go, it’s going to be obvious quickly,” Reid warned reporters. “Just from whether it’s a conditioning test or the long drive drills that we do. Those things that are, you’re going to find out who’s in and who’s not in and who’s put their time.”
When quizzed about the off-field commitments of both Kelce and Mahomes, he added: “I’m okay with it, as long as they’re ready to go.”
The Chiefs are aiming to make history by becoming the first team in the Super Bowl era to clinch the three-peat, following back-to-back victories against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Niners. There have been whispers of concern that Kelce might be distracted by his newfound fame, but Reid has faith that his star tight end will remain dependable.
Swift managed to attend 12 NFL games last season amidst her hectic schedule, and with Kelce tied up for up to seven months of the year, he’s been playing catch-up.
Swifties will have to catch her while they can, as Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” is set to wrap up on December 8, leaving her schedule wide open to support Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs through their potential playoff glory and maybe even a historic Super Bowl win.
