Aryna Sabalenka hailed for what she said about Coco Gauff after beating her at the Wuhan Open
Coco Gauff is on cloud nine right now. And it’s not just because she’s cruising through the WTA tour. She’s been riding a winning streak during the Asian swing. Making history by becoming the youngest champion at the China Open in 14 years. Although it came to an end in the semi-finals against Aryna Sabalenka, she made it to the WTA Finals 2024. But that’s not all, she was recently surprised by some exciting video messages from people she least expected.
After a tough summer and a fourth-round exit at the US Open, she bounced back in Beijing. Gauff dominated the China Open, winning the title against Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-3, marking her second WTA 1000 title. She continued her momentum at the Wuhan Open, reaching the quarterfinals and boosting her points in the ‘Race to Riyadh’ rankings. Following her qualification to the WTA finals, Coco Jones gave Gauff a shoutout, “Girl, I just wanted to send a congratulations for competing for the WTA finals again. Like, third time in a row, you’re really eating ’em up!”
Hoping to see Gauff’s powerful serve and speed at the finals, Jones added, “I know you’re gonna pop your s*** big time in the finals. I can’t wait to watch. I love watching you, I see the passion, girl. It ignites a fire in me! You know?” With a playful tone, Jones further exclaimed, “When are we meeting up? Let’s go eat or something. I feel like we have a lot in common. I love you, girl. Rooting for you.”
The message left Gauff in a fangirl frenzy. Surprised to see her idol, whom she grew up admiring, cheer her on from the other side of the screen, Gauff said, “I love Coco Jones since like, Disney Channel ‘Roxie I’m sorry,’ if you know you know. I love her and this is so cool. So thank you guys. This is actually really exciting, I was not expecting this! Thank you.”
Well, it’s not just Coco Jones who is cheering Gauff on, another athlete took some time out to convey her wishes to Gauff and it was not a tennis player.

Gauff was in for another surprise when WNBA star Cameron Brink sent her heartfelt well-wishes for the upcoming Finals. Brink, a rising star in basketball, expressed her pride in Gauff’s achievements. She congratulated the 20-year-old on making the Finals, saying, “You know how much I love you already. I hope we meet soon, and sending you all the best vibes.”
Coco Gauff and Cameron Brink know each other through their shared sponsorships, with Coco thanking her and referring to her as “My New Balance girl.” They starred together in the brand’s “We Got Now” campaign.
