BREAKING!! COCO GAUFF PULLS OUT OF PARIS 2024 OLYMPICS…DETAILS

2024 US Open: Coco Gauff aims to follow in the footsteps of the 2024 Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, who retained the title he won last year. GAUFF is the defending champion of the US Open. Experts think she has all it takes...

With the Paris Olympics 2024 just around the corner, the seedings for the women’s singles event have been finalized. Players will head back to the clay courts of Roland Garros once again to fight for one of sport’s highest honors.

However, with a few players opting to skip the quadrennial sporting contest, there’s a fair bit of difference between the official WTA rankings and the seedings. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is the top seed and the favorite to capture the gold medal. While her Wimbledon campaign came to an early end with a third-round exit, she is now back on her beloved clay.

Having captured her fourth French Open title a few weeks ago, Swiatek is expected to go all the way at the Olympics as well. World No. 2 Coco Gauff is the second seed, and given her track record in Paris, she too has a shot at a podium finish.

World No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka is missing in action, which makes Elena Rybakina the third seed in her place. The Kazakh lost the bronze medal play-off match at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. Jasmine Paolini, the runner-up at the last two Majors, is seeded fourth.

Jessica Pegula is the fifth seed, followed by Zheng Qinwen and Maria Sakkari as the sixth and seventh seeds respectively. Danielle Collins is seeded eighth, and Barbora Krejcikova, who recently claimed her second Major title at Wimbledon, is seeded ninth

Jelena Ostapenko is the tenth seed, and Emma Navarro, Marta Kostyuk, Donna Vekic, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Diana Shnaider are seeded 11th to 15th respectively at the Paris Olympics.

arketa Vondrousova announced her decision to pull out of the Paris Olympics due to a hand injury. The Czech had bagged the silver medal when the games were held in Tokyo three years ago. While she hoped to recover in time to make a trip to the French capital, it wasn’t meant to be.

Vondrousova was among one of the seeded players, a position which has now fallen upon Leylah Fernandez. She will get the final seeded spot and will be seeded 16th. This will be her second appearance at the Olympics, and she made the second round on her debut in the previous edition.

If another seeded player were to withdraw before the draw ceremony on Thursday, July 25, then Caroline Garcia would get promoted to a seeded position. The seedings for the Paris Olympics are based on the official WTA rankings for the week of July 22.
