Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Bracing for Punishment From NFL
Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs picked up their sixth-consecutive win after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 29-10 on Christmas Day, marking their largest win of the season.
During the game, Kelce, who is in his 12th season in the NFL, passed former tight end Tony Gonzalez to break the Chiefs’ record for most career receiving touchdowns with 77.
After his record-breaking score in the fourth quarter, Kelce honored Gonzalez by doing the Hall of Famer’s classic touchdown celebration, dunking over the goalpost. However, Kelce was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
A few weeks ago, Gonzalez and the Amazon Prime crew discussed the possibility of Kelce breaking his Kansas City record. In hopes of Kelce pulling out his dunk celebration on the record-breaker, Gonzalez offered to pay for the former Cincinnati Bearcats star’s potential fine.
“If he dunks it, I will pay that fine,” Gonzalez said on Black Friday.
Following the game, Gonzalez took to social media to leave his congratulatory message to Kelce for the new achievement.
“Congrats to my man @tkelce on becoming the all time @Chiefs leader in touchdowns!” Gonzalez wrote on X. “Keep blazing trails my friend! btw nice dunk.”
Kelce responded by taking Gonzalez up on his offer as he expects a fine from the NFL.
“You know I had to show love to the greatest of all time!!” Kelce responded. “you did mention you’d help me with the fine tho.”
