Easter service: King Charles leaves fan speechless with his impressive comeback
He was accompanied by his supporting wife Queen Camilla as she looked elegant in an emerald green dress.
King Charles left a royal fan greatly impressed with his remarkable response after complimenting the monarch’s appearance after the Easter service.
The King led the Royal Family during the Easter Sunday service in Windsor, marking his first official public appearance since his cancer diagnosis.
Outside St. George’s Chapel, well-wishers eagerly awaited the King’s arrival and were pleasantly surprised when he unexpectedly engaged in a walkabout to greet the public.
As the monarch shook hands with royal fans one man said: “Keep going strong, Your Majesty. Keep going strong, never give in.”
The King joked: “I have to obey my instructions.”
People from all around the world waited to meet the King including visitors from New Zealand and the US.
The monarch made another quick quip with the public after being urged to get well soon.
He wittily responded: “I’m doing my best.”
This was the first official public engagement that the King has attended since the monarch’s cancer was announced on February 5.
A palace source said that the King’s attendance is a “sign of things heading in the right direction.”
During his walkabout, the King told the crowds standing at the castle: “You’re very brave to stand out here in the cold.”
Aletha Kilgore, an opera singer from the US who attended the Easter service said that Charles’s appearance was “really significant.”
She said: “It indicates that he’s doing good and that he’s definitely on the incline in relation to his health, so that’s really nice to see.
“I also would like to thank him for attending the service today because I know that must’ve been a lot, but he shows himself to be committed to this nation and to people all around the world.”
She said: “I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to see him that closely today, but I certainly did.”
