“Even Venus Williams was like ‘That kid has more talent than you and I combined'” – Serena Williams gushes over daughter Olympia’s athletic abilities
Serena Williams has effusively praised her daughter Olympia’s athletic prowess, disclosing that the six-year-old displays an exceptional level of skill. The American’s sister and fellow tennis legend Venus Williams has also expressed similar sentiments about her niece.
Venus and Serena Williams captivated the tennis world with their extraordinary athleticism, strength, and fitness, having meticulously honed their skills under the watchful eyes of their parents, Richard Williams and Oracene Price.Although it’s hard to imagine someone surpassing the talent of the Williams sisters, they have both expressed their belief that Serena’s daughter, Olympia, possesses even greater skill.
Ina recent interview with The New York Times, the 23-time Grand Slam champion opened up about recognizing her daughter Olympia’s talent, disclosing that it allowed her to understand how their father identified her and Venus Williams’ abilities at a young age.
Serena Williams enthusiastically gushed over the six-year-old’s athletic abilities, describing them as “not even humanly possible.” The former World No. 1 also revealed that Venus holds a similar view on Olympia’s skills, believing she is more talented than both of them combined.
“It worked out well. [Laughs] But what do I see? The 8-month-old is so tiny, but Olympia is such a bright light, and she’s so athletic, to the point where it’s just not even humanly possible,” she said.
“Even Venus, she was like, “That kid has more talent than you and I combined,” and she’s not lying. So I can see how my dad may have seen some potential in us,” she added.
“I already told my dad,’Maybe you have to coach Olympia, because I’m too nice'” – Serena Williams
Despite acknowledging her daughter Olympia’s remarkable talent and athleticism, Serena Williams believes she is too nice and “soft” to coach the six-year-old in tennis.
Instead, the 42-year-old disclosed that she had tasked her father Richard Williams with taking up the mantle of coaching Olympia.
“I’m just trying to figure out a way to harness all that. I already told my dad, “Maybe you have to coach her, because I’m too nice.” I’m too soft, yeah,” she said in the same interview.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion also contemplated how her father managed to push her and Venus Williams so effectively, admitting that she finds it difficult to put the same pressure on Olympia and her younger daughter Adira.
“I always look at my dad, and I think, How were you able to do that? Because I’m like, Oh, they’re so cute. I just want them to relax and I don’t want to over-push them,” she said.
“But I would be devastated if I wasn’t pushed, because we wouldn’t be having this interview and there would never have been a Serena Williams,” she added.
