Serena Williams’ former coach Rennae Stubbs and her podcast co-host Caitlin Thompson have weighed in on Coco Gauff’s outfit for the 2024 WTA Finals. Thompson praised Gauff’s attire, especially in comparison to what she considered overly revealing kits for the 20-year-old in other tournaments.

Gauff recently clinched her maiden WTA Finals title, claiming an impressive 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) comeback win over Zheng Qinwen in the final. Apart from the duo’s thrilling battle, their outfits for the title clash also garnered attention. The American donned a striking all-purple New Balance ensemble, while Zheng donned a Nike outfit in lighter shades of the same color.

During the latest episode of the ‘Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast,’ Caitlin Thompson praised the all-purple theme for both finalists, emphasizing that Coco Gauff’s outfit was the best she had witnessed from the American.

I love that the finalists wore purple. Coco’s New Balance kit was the best I’ve seen her in,” Thompson said.
Rennae Stubbs contended that the World No. 3’s kits were consistently good, a sentiment echoed by fans throughout the season.

However, Thompson argued that Gauff was often dressed in “extremely tight” and “very revealing” clothes. While she conceded that those looks were never unflattering on the 20-year-old, Thompson expressed her belief that her attire in Riyadh was perfect in comparison.

“But her stuff is so good,” Stubbs argued.
“Her stuff is often good but a lot of times they put her in extremely tight and very revealing clothes. This one I felt like was quite… She’s got an insane physique so it’s not like anything’s going to be unflattering on her, but this one for me just was 10/10,” Thompson said.

Caitlin Thompson also expressed her appreciation for Zheng Qinwen’s “sass” on the podium after the final, highlighting how the Chinese was posing for the camera. Meanwhile, Thompson and Stubbs both agreed that Zheng was frustrated by her loss, as evidenced by her “frosty” handshake for Coco Gauff.
