Meghan Markle was seen wiping away tears at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

Meghan Markle has been at the centre of Royal chaos since joining the Royal family, but reportedly made a ‘brave’ request to the King, following the Queen’s funeral.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the Royals in remembering the late Queen Elizabeth II in September last year, despite the reported controversy that has surrounded their relationship with the tight-knit family.

During the official procession on 19 September, Meghan was seen shedding tears outside of Westminster Abbey while standing with Camilla, then-Queen Consort, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

But it has since emerged that before the couple returned to their home in California, Meghan intended to ‘clear the air’ with the Royals.

According to entertainment reporter Neil Sean, she had written a formal letter to new monarch King Charles III to request a private conversation with him.

Sean claimed that ‘a very good source’ had let him know that Meghan was hoping for a one-on-one with her father-in-law.

Spilling the details on YouTube, he told his viewers: “It would be an opportunity to clear the air, pull the rights from wrongs and explain some of the rationale behind what they’ve been doing over the last two years.

“Now, you know, you have to admire Meghan’s self-belief, whatever you think.

“Truthfully, we have no idea if this is going to go forward.”

The rift seemingly began back in 2020, when Harry and Meghan announced they would be stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family, confirming that they would split their time between the UK and the States.

In March 2021, the couple spoke out in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, featuring some shocking allegations about the Firm.

Perhaps one of the most scandalous claims made was that an unnamed senior member of the Royal Family had allegedly expressed concerns over their son Archie’s skin colour.

While claiming it wasn’t Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip, the couple refused to share who had expressed the concerns, insisting that it ‘would be very damaging to them’.

Elsewhere in the two-hour interview, Meghan revealed that she had suffered from depression and suicidal thoughts as a result of the intense attacks from tabloid media, but allegedly received no help from the Royal Family when she asked.

Following the tell-all interview, Meghan and Harry have made the odd appearance back in the UK for special occasions, but have spent the majority of their time in California raising their two children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

It would seem as though the couple looked to repair any fractured relationships with the Royals in the wake of Harry’s grandmother’s passing.

Despite the reported strained relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the rest of the Royal Family, Meghan had always spoken fondly of Queen Elizabeth.

And it seems there’s every chance that the King Charles would have been open to Meghan’s request, after ‘expressing his love’ for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his first official speech.
