Travis Kelce is heading to the big screen after landing his first movie project.
The Kansas City Chiefs star has hit new heights of fame amid his romance with girlfriend Taylor Swift, dazzling fans in advertisements, Eras Tour appearances and even TV shows.
But the tight end is now set to make it big time as he is in talks to star in action comedy film, ‘Loose Cannons’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project is in the process of being set up by Lionsgate with Chad Stahelski, the John Wick filmmaker, producing alongside his partner at 87Eleven Entertainment, Jason Spitz.
Meanwhile, Tim Dowling, whose credits include Adam Sandler comedy Just Go With It, is said to have penned the script.
The film, which is said to share a similar vibe to classic action comedy hits Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys and Rush Hour, reportedly centers on the premise that every police precinct in the movie’s world has an out of control, rule-breaking officer on staff who is ultimately partnered with a cop just as unhinged as they are.
what role Kelce will play with the 2024 NFL season on the horizon.
However, if he does manage to bag the part, it will mark just the next step in the Super Bowl winner’s ambitious off-field endeavors.
Kelce has already established an impressive Hollywood portfolio, appearing in an episode of Showtime comedy Moonbase 8 in 2020 and hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2023.
More recently, he’s signed on to host television show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’ – a spinoff of ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’
The show, filmed in Los Angeles during the football offseason, will be broadcast will on Amazon Prime and the October 16 start date falls around Kelce’s NFL bye week with the Chiefs.
Kelce has also landed a role in Ryan Murphy ‘s upcoming FX series – horror drama, ‘Grotesquerie.’
The 10-episode series from the co-creator of Glee and American Horror Story is set to drop in September, and follows a detective attempting to solve a string of heinous crimes.
Kelce’s role still remains a mystery, however he previously opened up about feeling like an ‘amateur’ on set.
‘It’s been so much fun,’ Travis told his brother, Jason Kelce, on an episode of the New Heights podcast in May.
‘I feel like a jabroni, I feel like an amateur, but I haven’t gotten fired yet,’ he went on. ‘They haven’t told me to f**king kick rocks after the first week.’
The tight end said he didn’t want to ‘give away too much’ about the plot but described the series as ‘quite a mystery.’
‘Everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable and giving me the direction I need and the coaching I need to portray this part,’ he continued.
‘I’m just taking it scene-by-scene and making sure I remember my lines … I’m very amateur at this.’
In the meantime though, Kelce is gearing up for the start of the new NFL season – it is less than a month until Kansas City Chiefs start their new campaign with a blockbuster showdown against Baltimore Ravens on Sep. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce and Chiefs are lining up an historic shot at an unprecedented Super Bowl ‘three-peat’ this season and his girlfriend Swift is anticipated to be cheering him on from the stands as much as possible.
