Update: The 2024 Wimbledon ATP and WTA prize money and points breakdown have reached a record high of €50,000,000. This significant increase highlights the stakes amidst the elimination of top-ranking players like Coco Gauff, who have missed out on the opportunity to compete for these substantial rewards.
The preparations for Wimbledon 2024 are practically complete as the prize money has now been confirmed with an increase of 11.9% compared to 2023. The tournament will be held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club as usual, from July 1-14, 2024.
The male and female champions will be able to take home a historic prize of £2.7 million (€3.2 million), representing an increase of 14.9%, while the first-round losers will receive £60,000 (€71,313), a 9.1% increase.
Significant increases in prize money for ATP and WTA
The All England Club announced the new prize money for Wimbledon 2024 on Thursday. The third Grand Slam of the year will feature the best tennis players in the world, although it already laments two significant absences: 7-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic and 2-time champion Rafael Nadal.
Nevertheless, tennis will be celebrated in grand style on the grass of SW19, and the organization has set a historic prize money for the participants of the tournament with significant increases compared to 2023.
The female and male singles champions will receive prizes equivalent to £2.7 million, while the runners-up will get a substantial £1.4 million.
It’s not only the finalists who will see significant increases; the first-round losers will receive prize money of £60,000, something that lower-ranked players will especially appreciate.
